A single Sniper mod added to a weapon removes accuracy penalties due to distance. A second Sniper mod added to the same weapon also removes the accuracy penalty against targets outside your vision.

A high-tech modification for ranged weapons -- implements an advanced auto-hit mechanism.

The Sniper mod can only be applied to ranged weapons. Up to three Sniper mods can added to a ranged weapon, but a third Sniper mod will have no additional effect. When applied to shotguns, it increases their max range by 2 per mod. The Sniper mod can be added to weapons that exactly target a tile, such as any BFG, or weapons with inherent autohit (i.e. the weapon will already 100% hit any enemy in its targeted path), such as the Tactical rocket launcher, but this too will have no practical effect. Applying a single sniper mod to the sniper rifle or toxin rifle grants the 2nd tier effect, as they have a hidden perk equivalent to the sniper mod's 1st tier.
